Shape-Based Reptile Crafts

Shape-Based Reptile Crafts

Why not combine the two themes? These projects are perfect for preschoolers who are just starting to recognize edges and curves:

1. The “Circle-Gator” (Alligator)

  • The Shape: Cut 3 large green circles. Fold them in half.
  • The Craft: Glue them in a line to create a “bumpy” alligator body. Add a small triangle for the tail and a semi-circle for the snout.
  • Skills: Focuses on Circles and Semi-circles.

2. The “Triangle Tortoise” 🐢

  • The Shape: A large equilateral triangle for the shell.
  • The Craft: Kids can decorate the shell with smaller “pattern” triangles. Add small rectangles for legs and a circle for the head.
  • Skills: Focuses on Triangles and Rectangles.

3. The “Tangram Snake” 🐍

  • The Shape: A series of different colored diamonds (rhombuses).
  • The Craft: Line the diamonds up tip-to-tail to create a slithering, zig-zagging snake body.
  • Skills: Focuses on Diamonds/Rhombuses and Symmetry.
