Fun Rocking UFO Craft for Kidsc

It’s World UFO Day, and we are not going to miss it! What if I told you there’s a special day dedicated to people staring up at the sky looking for strange objects? It’s true—that’s the purpose of World UFO Day!

While the world discusses whether there is life outside planet Earth, we’re going to have some fun by creating our very own visitor from outer space with this rocking UFO craft.

Supplies Required

  • Colored cardstock papers (Sturdy paper is best for the “rocking” base)
  • Colored craft papers
  • Pencil and Eraser
  • Craft glue
  • A pair of scissors
  • Sharpies or markers
  • UFO & Alien Template

How to Make the Rocking UFO Craft

  1. Prepare the Base: Trace the large circular UFO base onto a piece of colorful cardstock. Fold the circle exactly in half—this fold is what allows your UFO to rock back and forth on a flat surface!
  2. Trace and Cut: Trace the remaining parts of the template (the glass dome, lights, alien head, body, and antennae) onto your chosen craft papers.
    • Tip: Go wild with colors! Since UFOs are mysterious, you can use neon greens, deep purples, or even metallic silvers.
  3. Assemble the Alien: Glue the antennae to the alien’s head and the head to the small body. Use a Sharpie to draw a funny face—maybe your alien has three eyes or a giant smile!
  4. Build the UFO: Glue the “glass dome” (the semi-circle) onto the top center of your folded base. Then, glue your little alien so they are sitting right inside the dome.
  5. Add the Lights: Glue the small colorful circles (the lights) along the curved edge of the UFO base. This makes it look like it’s powered up and ready for take-off.
  6. Make it Rock: Place your UFO on a table and give it a gentle tap. Watch as it rocks side-to-side like it’s navigating through an asteroid belt!
